does it increase your mpgs when you shut the cars engine off at a stop light and start it when the light turns green

  1. it will save you gas but the wear and tear on the engine, the starter, and battery is not worth saving the little amount of fuel unused when shutting off at lights  and its very embarrasing if it dosent start


  2. No, it takes more fuel to start a car than to idle it

  3. no way, ur car will eat a lot of gas when u start the car up again, dont do it.

  4. As a general rule starting your car uses as much gas as idling for 30 seconds. It use to take more gas to start than that but the cars nowadays have gotten alot better.

  5. No, but it decreases the life of your starter and the tow bill will be more than a years worth of saving if it doesn't start back up.
