  1. Of course it does.  Also, if the computer is on, the heat from leaving it on causes the room to be hot too.

  2. Yes of course.Save electricity.

  3. of course this is a kind of a good thing, you could save your power bill..

  4. No need to shut it down during the day, but do shut it down at night when you're sleeping and turn it on again when you're next ready to use it.  Shutting it down at night not only saves on energy, but by shutting it down and rebooting the next day you remove a lot of junk from the pc's RAM.

Now, as to the "handy" and "useful" abilities to put the computer into sleep mode or hibernate mode, as a long time techie, my advice is to change those settings to "NEVER".  Many of the problems I've handled for clients are directly related to those utilities, and also to shutting down the hard drive.  Skip that too.  If indeed you aren't going to use your notebook pc for more than 15 minutes or so, then just shut it off and restart it when you do want to use it.  Take it easy.

  5. It depends, try not to turn it on and off that often, keep it on sleep mode if you will use it some time later in the day, just because you won't use it for the next hour means you have turn it off and an hour later turn it on again. When you are sure you will not need it anymore until the next day go ahead and turn it off.

  6. I do it... I don't know if it saves the power bill, but it refreshes it.

  7. Its a good thing.

If your not intending to use your computer for more than 2 Hours, I recommend you shut it down.

It will be giving the hardware a rest and it wont bring up your electricity bill.

  8. Its a great idea.  You'll save money that way.  Thing is, don't turn it off if you're going to be away for only like 6 min or something.  That won't help.  But if you're away for a long time, don't leave it on.  Screensavers won't really help save power and they won't save monitor a lot too.  Keep the computer off when you're not having it within usage.

  9. It is good so your computer can rest and perform faster, but it will not save on the electric bills. the only way to save on electric bills is to unplug it. Same with the television.
