Shuttlers from Indonesia and Singapore ready to win glory at the 2011 World Championships
Shuttlers from Indonesia and Singapore are also ready to put up a great show and win glory along with Malaysian players at the 2011 World Championships, which will start from Monday, August 8, in London.
Malaysia’s national squad has recently finished their ten-day training camp at the University of Bath and same is the case with Indonesian shuttlers, who have completed their training stint at the Irish Racquets Club in Belfast.
Indonesia won their last title at the 2007 World Championships, but the side was unable to win in the last two episodes of the mega event. Malaysia has never won any crown in this event and the country’s shuttlers are willing to make a breakthrough this
time.
Singapore is another country that will put in their best effort to win glory by competing well at the world meet. The shuttlers of Singapore have been playing good badminton in the training matches with the English team and are ready to fight at the Championships.
While talking about the preparation of teams from different countries, Rashid Sidek, national coach of Malaysia, said that the fans will see an interesting competition at the Wembley Indoor Arena in London, this time.
The coach added, “The teams are putting in a lot of effort in their preparation for this year’s World Championships. We can look forward to some quality matches.”
He further said, “Besides China, Indonesia are another successful nation when it comes to the world meet. They are looking very strong in all their doubles events this year.”
Malaysia is relying on World Number One, Lee Chong Wei in the Men’s Singles category and World Number Four pair, Tan Boon Heong and Koo Kien Keat in Men’s Doubles for the title in the World Championships.
Indonesia will be looking for the title through Taufik Hidayat in the Men’s Singles, Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan in Men’s Doubles and Tantowi Ahmad - Lilyana Natsir in the Mixed Doubles.
China’s team is looking as strong as ever after they have four Men’s Singles shuttlers in the draw including Lin Dan, Chen Jin, Chen Long and Du Pengyu. In the Men’s Doubles, the World Number One and top seeded pair of Fu Haifeng and Cai Yun, who are defending
champions, will also be looking for another title in this event.
