Shyrshov Vyacheslav grabs Men’s 50m backstroke gold: Day seven – FINA World Masters Championships
Shyrshov Vyacheslav of Ukraine grabbed gold medal of the Men’s 50m backstroke in the age group of 30-34 on last day of the 14th Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA) World Masters Championships 2012 in Riccione, Italy on Saturday,
June 16.
The Ukrainian swimmer lived up to the expectations of his supporters by seizing top spot of the event. He remained considerably ahead of his opponent and made his way to the finishing wall for the title of the event.
With his persistent efforts, he remained almost a half body length behind and reached the medal rostrum for gold medal with the timing of 27.41 seconds.
His title claiming effort remained 0.46 seconds faster from Florea Razvan Ionut of Romania, who transpired on the finishing end as second position holder by submitting a time of 27.87 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Massimiliano Quagliani of Italy, who stayed just 1.07 seconds apart and occupied bronze medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 28.94 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was obtained by Andre De Lorenzi of Brazil, who was only 0.06 seconds slower from overwhelming his foregoing finisher and submitted a time of 29.00 seconds.
Lorenzi remained 0.16 seconds ahead of Borut Dezman of Slovenia, who finished his swim in fifth best place by submitting a time of 29.16 seconds.
Similarly, sixth fastest spot of the event was secured by Marco Lodigiani of Italy, who stayed 0.15 seconds behind and reported a time of 29.31 seconds.
Lodigiani was chased by Stephane De Battisti of France, who remained 0.18 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end as seventh position holder with the timing of 29.49 seconds.
Eighth position of the discipline was secured by Dmitrii Andreev of Russia, who stayed 0.09 seconds apart and ended his race with the timing of 29.58 seconds.
Following that, Slavko Pamucina of Italy occupied ninth position of the event as he posted 29.64 seconds.
The tournament ended after the completion of all planned events in Men and Women’s corner while the position holders received medals and accolades at the prize ceremony of the championship.
