Sialkot Region President Zulfiqar Malik has assured the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, on Tuesday, October 9, 2012.
Shoaib Malik led Sialkot Stallions are the first Pakistan team to play in the esteemed league, jointly owned by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks, in November 2008.
However, in a bid to break the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 later this year, but also allowed country’s domestic Twenty20 champions to participate in the latest edition of the CLT20, to be held in South Africa between October 9 and 28.
Stallions will kick-start their CLT20 campaign on Tuesday, when they take on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hampshire-c789.
Shoaib Malik’s men tasted a 23-run defeat at the hands of county side http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yorkshire-c867 Carnegies in a warm-up match on their arrival. However, going by the strengths of Pakistan’s Twenty20 champion side, it is being anticipated that they will live up to the expectations in the global T20 league.
Despite Stallions’ defeat in the practice match, the President of Sialkot region Zulfiqar Malik is optimistic about his side’s chances in the CLT20.
“All the players including skipper Shoaib Malik have reached Johannesburg and are ready for their first showdown tomorrow,” Zulfiqar Malik told ‘The News’ on Monday.
“Although it’s very difficult to predict in T20 cricket, on paper we have a solid team and they will play according to the expectations,” he added further.
If qualified for the main tournament, the Stallions will be drafted in Group B, along with Mumbai Indians (India), Chennai Super Kings (India), Sydney Sixers (Australia) and Highveld http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808 (South Africa), and will play their opening fixture against the Sixers at Newlands in Cape Town, on October 16.
