Siarhei Papok takes fourth stage as Novikov extend his overall lead in d ‘Aosta 2011

Hoppla Truck It. Mavo Valdarno Pr team’s Siarhei Papok showed a tremendous effort in the fourth stage of Giro Ciclistico della d’Aosta 2011 in Rivara on Friday, August 26.
The 23-year-old Belarusian road bicycle racer took the total of 4 hours, 22 minutes and 14 seconds to cover the distance of 167.1 kilometres.
Stéfano Locatelli of Colpak was runner-up and Jakub Novak of Trevigiani Dynamon Bottoli finished third with the same timing of Papok.
The four cyclists managed to maintain their pace and cross the finish line with the same timing while Nicola Boem of G.S. Zalf Desiree Fior tried his best to catch the riders but failed to hold his pace and finished fifth with a difference of 6 seconds ahead
of Walt De Winter.
Shiarhei Papok told the media, "It 'a wonderful success, but also my whole team. For six hundred meters from the finish I started and I have never looked away. I won my fourth race season, but the credit for this success is also Matthias Barabesi and Antonino
Puccio. Their work has been enormous. "
With 44 kilometres to go, the group of three cyclists made a breakaway lead including, Mattie Barabesi (Hoppla Truck It. Mavo Valdarno Pr), Antonino Puccio and Michele Gazzara (Trevigiani Dynamon Bottoli).
They gained an advantage of few seconds but Barabesi showed a good effort and took the first and second sprint of the stage. Antonino Puccio took the overall four climbs of the stage ahead of Barabesi and Steve Bekaert.
Sporting director Riccardo Forconi dell'Hopplà said, “I had a dual strategy for today's stage: the flight distance. The flight could go on arrival, but the Italian teams have done everything because this does not happen.”
Itera-Katusha team’s Novikov took the overall standing with the timing of 16 hours, 46 minutes and 34 seconds. Fabio Aru was runner-up with 2 minutes and 3 seconds behind the Russian.
Antoine Lavieu (France) finished third with the difference of 2 minutes and 23 seconds ahead of De leso and Dombrokswki.
The next stage will run in Châtillon and end in Torgnon and all the cyclists will cover the distance of 162.4 kilometres.
