Sicily Masters set to take centre stage in the coming week – Volleyball News
Italian city Giardini Naxo is set to host the Sicily Masters beach volleyball tournament from August 29 to September 2.
The tournament will feature only men’s matches and the action will take place at the Giardini Naxos Beach. Aspiring duos from all over the European continent will jump on board to showcase their beach volleyball skills in front of the bigger audience. The
winners of the competition will split the shared prize money of 25,000 Euros.
The courts have been set up at the Giardini Naxos Beach, while the stadium has the capacity to hold around 2,000 spectators. The local organisers are hopeful that the stands will be filled with people.
The Sicily Masters beach volleyball tournament will follow the set plan of Confederation European de Volleyball (CEV). The tournament will be opened with the Country Quota Playoffs and countries with more than two teams will have to go through the CQ stage.
Successful tandems of the Country Quota Playoffs will claw their way to the Qualification Tournament. The qualifying round will complete its run on Thursday and teams with better results will enter the influential Main Draw of the Sicily Masters.
A total of eight teams will get the chance to advance to the Main Draw via Qualification Tournament. Rest of the 16 teams will directly enter the Main Draw stage on account of their ranking points. Thereafter, the 24-team Main Draw of the Sicily Masters
will take centre stage, which will cover its run over two days. The single-elimination bracket will be ON and only better team will survive this stage.
Eventually, the tournament will reach the Final Four stage on Sunday. Top four duos of the competition will appear in the semi-finals. Furthermore, two tandems will compete for the Sicily Masters Title in the final match of the tournament. The losers of
the semi-finals will vie for the bronze in third-position match.
The competition will create an excellent opportunity especially for the local duos from Italy. The home teams will have the competitive advantage of playing at home. Nevertheless, hard-work and dedication will be the key of success for any team in the competition.
