My 5 year old son woke up about 3 hours ago, he was throwing up,diahreah, and has a very bad ache in his stomach. He said he has a headache, and his temparture is 103.5.Our local pediatrician is closed,so taking him to the doctor.I think it is a virus, but not sure. I gave him Childrens motrin and now he is Just resting. He also told me that he has aches all over his body. Could this be the flu..virus..etc? Please help.Give me ideas what to feed him? 1. Either go to the doctor that is on call for your pediatrician or an emergency clinic or hospital.  Little kids usually don't say everything aches, unless it really, really aches.

It's probably just a virus, but it's better to be safe.

    Good luck!! :)

  2. It sounds like a stomach virus.  Motrin can be very irritating to the stomach, so it might not be the best choice of medicine in this case.   Can he keep fluids down?   If so, just keep giving him sips of water, Pedialyte, and room-temperature ginger ale.    Don't give him anything to eat.   Don't bundle him up in too many clothes if he's hot.

If he's not a little better when he wakes up tomorrow, call the pediatrician again and go over all the symptoms with him.  If he feels your son should be seen, he will make an appointment for you to bring him in.

EDIT:   103.5 is not that high of a fever.  He does not need to go to the hospital.  Last summer, my daughter had a similar illness with a temperature of almost 105.   I took her to the urgent care facility, and they told me it was viral and sent her home.   They said not to worry unless her temperature hit 105 or higher.  They were right....she was better the next day.

  3. TAKE THAT BABY TO THE HOSPITAL! His fever is too high and sometimes you have to do what you have to do.  Thank goodness for emergency rooms.

  4. They really need to go to the drs asap. If they are closed today, fine, rotate Tylenol and motrin every 4 hours and apply the B.R.A.T. diet. Also a tepid bath with some rubbing alcohol in the bath water will do wonders for bringing down the fever. As others have stated, gatorade or Pedialite as often as he will take it. He must stay hydrated, if not that could only complicate the issue of him not feeling well. Let the diarrhea run its course and apply any diaper rash or an ointment so his bottom doesn't get sore.

Also stay away from dairy products with the fever.

  5. My doctor says to rotate the Motrin and Tylenol for high fevers. This should help with the ackes too. Rest is the best. If he feels hungry try chicken noodle soup. Your right on track with lots of fluids, keep him hydrated with Gatorade or pedilite.

  6. get off the computer AND GO TO THE HOSPITAL NOW

  7. His fever is awfully high.

I'd go to the ER. If his fever goes up anymore ER RIGHT AWAY!

Could be a virus, but only the doctor can tell you.

For food- saltines, chicken broth/noodle soup, popcicles.

    Hope he feels better!

  8. HOSPITAL NOW!!!
