Sick Rabbit!?

My rabbit is just under a year old. This morning I noticed that he wasn't acting right. Now one of his eyes is runny, he is breathing really heavily, he's acting sluggish, and his white fur is all yellow around his nose. The vet isn't open, what should I do until tomorrow?

  1. It sounds to me like "sniffles". Yes this is a real diagnosis. You need to get your bunny to the vet soon. Respitory infections in rabbits can be fatal. The sooner the better. If it is sniffles they will put him on an antibiotic. Good luck

  2. Make sure he drinks water and eats. If he doesnt eat or drink buy a 2 medicine droppers and hand feed him. Please answer my question:

  3. Rabbits will begin signs of an upper GI impaction as signs of a cold.  This is NOT good! If your bunny is impacted, then she might die of pain before you can get her to a vet. I'd call around and find an emergency vet.

IF you can't get to a vet, you can try to force feed the bunny some mineral oil, hold the bunny's hind legs up and message the belly (basically to help the bunny pass gas)

I've had several rabbit die of this, but i've also brought several through it as well.  It always begins with heavy breathing, almost foamy at the mouth, and an extended tummy.  have you noticed an absesnce of p**p lately? do you feed it hay regularly? (not alpha, but timothy?)

  4. ooo thats a hard one. Just sit by and watch him and it it gets out of hand call another animal place. Like an animal emergency place.
