I'm 17. I have bad vision. And this ruins my life since i hate wearing contacts or glasses and i would do any surgery that would give solid results. My parents say i can do the surgery when i am 25+ but i can't wait till then. i want to try out for the marines while i'm still young. I feel useless i just want to die now. f***ing myopia.

*Irreversible* psh.. ain't there anything i can do?

  1. I am sorry but when are you an adult? 18! why do you have to wait until 25??? You don't have to wait til 25!

  2. talk with your parents detailing the reasons that you desire the procedure now while you are young.

  3. I've been this way since I was 10 years old, which was almost 40 years ago. At my age, any surgery would not really benefit me. I would need to wear reading glasses if I got it. So far, I've been able to avoid them.

  4. Louis,

I agree with "Spectacle", above,  in that you need to wait until your prescription is stable...no matter what age that is.

There is another alternative if your myopia is less than -6.00.

visit   www.ParagonCRT.com    locate a doctor near you that specializes in this form of contact lens treatment and get a consultation.

you could also visit my website  www.CustomVisionCare.com

for more information.  I have been providing this lens for my patients since 2002.

  5. WELL, You might have to wait until you are 25. It depends on how your myopia progresses. At 18 it is legal to do, but most people are advised by REPUTABLE Doctors to wait until their eyes are stable and have not changed for a couple of years. SO, in some men it is not until they are 25. Um. I know many people in the Marines that use glasses and contacts. It is sad that you let your visual difficulty ruin your life. I have been hightly myopic since I was a kid. I do not like it either, but I live my life to it's fullest. I wear my contacts and my glasses and I look great and feel great. Nothing holds Me back. I can not have surgery becuase my corneas are too thin and I am predisposed to Dry eye problems, so they will not touch me with a ten foot pole! BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU CAN DO!
