I bought a 6week old holland lop on sunday and i think it's sick. like it has not alot but a tene-tini bit of crust in her eyes and it looks like it had just taken a bath and gotten dried off. and on her ears she has fur but you can still see some of the vains in her ears. and she's breathing really hard. i attempted listening to her heart and like the first 10 or so beats are loud and the next 2 or 3 beats are quiet. she's stays in a hutch in the garage and she's eating drinking and going to the bathroom fine and i put like 1-3 FROZEN water bottles in case she gets hot. And i want to make sure she isn't sick. Thanks i appreciate your help. ;)

  1. Six weeks is pretty young. I don't think a reputable breeder would sell it at that age. It's not soo young it will definitely die, but it should probably be getting additional supplements beyond what is available in rabbit food and water. Take it to a vet and get it checked out. The rabbit could be sick, and some rabbit illnesses can transfer to people to some degree.

  2. I hope she gets better, but I wouldn't keep her in the garage. I don't know if the car fumes would hurt her. She probably also could use some sunlight. And the frozen water bottles might not really be helping at all, because they're frozen. I suggest you move her to your bedroom or somewhere else. Just for the time being or until she gets better. Also try and feed her lots of fruits and vegetables with lots of Vit. C.

I love bunnies! Hope she feels better!

  3. Why is she in the garage? Bring her indoors where it's cooler. Rabbits make far better indoor pets. If she still seems to be ill to you, you should bring her to a small animal vet and make sure she is okay.

  4. see a vet,she may have a respiratory infection and needs antibiotics.btw,rabbits are lagomorphs,not rodents.good luck!

  5. My rabbits have veins showing in their ears too. She seems ok-ish, but i havent seen the bunny and I would take her to the vet if you're feeling unsure about anything as we cannot see the bunny. Good Luck!

  6. A garage is not a suitable place to house her. You need to take her to a vet.

No reputable breeder sells them at 6 weeks so you probably bought her sick.
