hi i have a 2 and a half year old hamster who after leaving it with my cousin for month while i was on vaca, came back to find it with bald patches on its right hind leg. She also is limping on the same leg. " the limping" my cousin said " is due to its leg geting stuck on a paper in our metal hamster wheel". Runningwind ( her name ) also refuses to eat anything but red hamster donuts and isint her active self. She is a robovski dwarf and has a sister who ias her house mate. They get along fine.

Also the hamster has lost some vweight, around a ounce. If any one has some idea please help.

  1. yes, def. take it to the vet. She might have a broken leg, wire bar wheel do that. The hair coming off her leg might be from it getting caught. If it's not growing back, then you MUST get her checked on by a vet. She is probably in pain, which would explain the low activity, and she must really like the hamster donuts, because pain causes animals to lose appitite. I hope your hamster feels better! :-(------->:-)

  2. Your hamster has definitely got her leg stuck very badly somewhere - probably on the wheel or somewhere else. That shows the loss of fur on her leg and the limping. She is a old hamster and would not be healthy or strong enough to heal herself like she would have done had she been young. You might have to take her to a vet to determine if there is any infection or broker bones in the leg and get it set alright by the vet.

All other symptoms like lethargy and refusal to eat also show that your hamster is sick and needs professional attention.

If the infection in the leg spreads to other parts of her body, she can get more sick. Also hamsters are known for chewing off parts like legs if they get too painful or useless for them (it is what they are trained to do in the wild), so you would better take her to a vet to prevent this probability.

  3. GET IT CHECKED OUT! hey it cant talk its probally showing these emotions because it wants to be checked out and cured!
