I also think it is good for a baby to come in contact with some germs so he can build his immune system. but any advise on older brothers and sisters. we have twins that are seven. what precations should we take when the twin are sick? how can we stop baby from getting sick from them?

other then washing hands and trying to keep them away. any advise?

  1. Teach your twins to cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze, and wash their hands thoroughly. Make sure they don't touch the baby, esp on the baby's hands, or around the face, esp kissing.

My doctor told me to try to keep my baby away from people who have colds or flu for atleast the first 2 months, because of their immune system. But after that, it won't be as bad and it will be difficult to keep the baby away from viruses and germs.

It is difficult to keep germs away, but taking the best preventative measures is all you could really do.

  2. Besides washing hands, have them cover their mouth with their arm when sneezing or coughing. Have them wash their hands when they get home from school. Unfortunately most colds are contagious before you start to have any symptoms.

  3. It is so hard to avoid the colds from spreading to everyone in the house.. luckily most colds only last a few days.  Really all you can do is make sure the kids wash their hands very frequently.. which isnt always a sure thing when they are that young lol..  make sure they dont touch the baby or give the baby kisses..  you cant really follow the kids around with a bottle of sanitizer but you can get those little wipes and just wash anything that the baby may come into contact with.. sometimes colds are unavoidable but we can always do our best :)
