Sick rabbit, is he getting healthy?

yesterday i took my rabbit to the vet because monday he had a runny nose/difficulty breathing/loss of appetite, tuesday the runny nose cleared up but he still wasn't eating or being active like always. the vet said he has the snuffles, and he is on antibiotics (22mg Baytril) and i give him critical care food (a powder you mix with water, and force feed). the vet also gave him subcutaneous fluids.

today his appetite has gotten better, but not yet where it should be. and he is a little bit more active, but not 100% himself. but i was worried that he hasn't been pooping. i called the vet she said that i just need to give him time. and later i saw that there were a couple droppings in his cage!

does this mean the antibiotics are working/he will be okay?

I think your rabbit is definitely improving you should try and give him more bedding to keep him warm =]

Pasturellosis (snuffles) can take a long time to clear and sometimes reoccurs. Baytril is the general antibiotic given to clear up the illness and some rabbits need longer doses than others.

Keep feeding critical care as this contains nutrients as well as probiotics(good bacteria) to line his stomach and maintain good digestion. The antibiotics sometimes kill the good bacteria as well as the bad causing upset stomachs.

Make sure he has a good diet and if necessary feed vegetable baby food by syringe if he still is not eating.

After you have finished the course take him back to the vet for another check up to make sure the antibiotics he has had are enough to keep the bacterial infection at bay.

Yes he is getting better. One of my bunnies was on critical care and sub q fluids  and still didn't produce stools for a week.  The antibiotics are working don't worry.

YUP SOUNDS LIKE YOUR RABBIT IS GETTING BETTER THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO MY RABBIT A FEW WEEKS AGO NOW HE EATIN ALOT AND HE POOPS LIKE CRAZEE LOL

yes the antibiotics are working you just need to give him a few  more days and he will be pooping same as usual
