My son is 13 months old. He is teething and he has a cold. I already took him to the Dr who said to just give him Tylenol or Motrin. I am giving him the medicine and also using a saline spray and nose aspirator for the phlegm. Yesterday, last night, and today he is screaming bloody murder and wont stop! He has no fever, he doesn't want to eat, he doesn't want to nurse, or walk in the stroller, or the car, or play, or sing, or play in the water. NOTHING! I put him in his crib and he screams for a while and falls asleep, but once he's up he screams again and wont stop. I have to let him scream until it's been a while where he'd fall asleep again. I am going to go crazy, what should I do to sooth him!?

  1. You poor thing! your son too.

I will be having a little girl soon and your question scares me..

I hope u and him get some rest, and these people helped you.

    Take care

  2. Have you tried Baby Orajel for the teething?

  3. get a teether and freeze it to numb it

  4. Go out and buy some baby orajel and put a pea size amount on his gums,my 5 month old daughter has three teeth and that stuff works wonders.

  5. It does not look like simple teething, did the doctor check his ears? probably is something else, try oragel up to 4 times a day, put a teether in the refrigerator (NOT the freezer!), massage his gums with your clean fingers, let him chew on hard toys, give him cold milk and food (it is the only way they can eat with a sore throat and also help the gums), use tylenol or motrin as recommended by your doctor (every 4-6 hours depending on which you are using), pamper your baby with a nice warm bath, relaxing music, plenty of arms. Be patient, he will go through it.

Good luck, and if your heart tells you is not normal for a cold + teething, call your doctor again and again.

  6. buy the teething tablets, they help  with the teething, they are natural and they also help to calm him down. If you don't get any relief from that, take him back to the doctor and have him check his ears. My son has had 3 infections this year all related to teething. Never guessed he had one until it was time for bed. I hope he feels better, poor guy

  7. I find with my baby that frozen fruit in a little net works really well (but he's much smaller than yours) and wet chilled wash cloths. Apart from that mine does respond well to his painkiller, but I have been through 1.5 weeks of screaming the house down myself (until 2 days ago)

If absolutely nothing works, you'll just have to suffer it and keep telling yourself it's temporary and things will be back to normal soon, so you don't go mad.

You could try some ear plugs as well ;-) j/k

Good luck, I hope your little man feels better again real soon.
