Are mainstream/generic cough drops not veg*n friendly? They lack an *ingredients* label on the back so I am not too sure.

  1. They should all list "inactive ingredients" which refers to all the ingredients that make up the lozenge but aren't part of the medicine.  Some have honey, but those would be really obvious because they'd typically say so on the front.

  2. I've bought Fisherman's Friends, the ingredients appeared to be vegan.

"The product is gluten-free, contains no genetically modified organisms, and is fat and cholesterol free. The product is suitable for coeliacs and vegans and is Kosher and Halal approved."

  3. In the US they are listed under "inactive ingredients" on the drug facts label.

On my package of Halls Cherry it lists:

eucalyptus oil, FD&C blue no 2, FD&C red no 40, flavors, glucose syrup, sucrose, water.

The only potential problems are "flavors" and "sucrose."    Artificial cherry flavor is usually fine.   And sucrose depends on your stance on refined sugar.  (Some cane sugar is purified using bone char.)

(The active ingredient menthol if present is vegan.)

  4. Well they might contain traces of nuts.... have you ever wondered just hwat that means.... like, you buy a carton of cream and it says this product might contain traces of nuts... what's that all about.. you know... so veg friendly... grow your own is the only way to be certain. If you have a cold, have some lemongrass tea... or sommat
