Siddharth Trivedi hopes selectors are keeping tabs on IPL performances – Cricket News Update
Rajasthan Royals medium pacer, Siddharth Trivedi, has expressed the hope that national selectors are keeping an eye on his performances during the current 5th edition of the Indian Premier League.
“I have been performing consistently and my four wickets against Royal Challengers Bangalore were quite satisfying because they have a very strong batting line up. I hope the performances are being noticed,” the 29-year-old said.
Trivedi has been playing for the Rajasthan Royals since the 2008 inaugural edition of the IPL, and his recent figures have been fairly impressive. Despite their fairly inexperienced bowling attack, the Royals have been having a successful season so far, and are currently placed second in the league's points table, having won 4 of their 6 matches.
The medium-pacer has contributed to his team’s successes in a big way. After a slow start to the season, with 1 for 32 in the Royals’ season opener against the Kings XI Punjab on April 6, the right-armer went on to claim 2 for 25 in the next match against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
After a brief slump in the next two matches, he made a spectacular comeback during the Royals’ clash with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, bagging 4 for 25, and eliminating international players such as AB de Villiers, Daniel Vettori, and Virat Kohli. His 4-wicket haul was instrumental in triggering a batting order collapse, leading the Royals’ to their 59-run victory.
He continued to display consistency, if not a repeat of his spectacular 4 for 25, in his team’s most recent match against the Deccan Chargers, during which he claimed 1 for 27, eliminating opener Shikhar Dhawan at 52.
While the pacer has failed to earn a spot on the national squad so far, he is convinced that he needs to focus solely on performing well, and leave his fate up to the selectors.
“I have to keep on performing and leave the rest in the hands of selectors. I believe I should finish in top five wicket takers in this IPL. I have been working hard on my bowling and especially the slower ones,” he said.
“The team still has high expectations from me. This is my fifth year in IPL and as a senior player I try to give my 100 per cent,” he added.
