So many movies about Gautama Buddha yet no mention of him being an incarnation of Lord Vishnu? Every one talks about his next rebirth but what about who he Incarnated?

  1. Buddha was ninth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. His parents, aunt, uncle and all relatives were Hindus. However when Hindus try to depict him as 9th avataar of Vishnu in some serials or films the Buddhist organisation strongly opposes this. This was when only one channel Doordarshan was in reign. However now as so many channels are in existence they would hardly get to resist Hindu organisations. In so many religious films shown on Zee cinema and elsewhere Buddha is shown as an Avataar of Lord Vishnu. Those Vaishnavas who believe that there are only 10 Avataars of Lord Vishnu believe him as the 9th one and those Vaishnavas who believe that there are 24 avataars of Lord Vishnu still believe him to be the 23rd Avataar of Lord Vishnu. Now only Kalki is awaited. Ever read Bhagvadgita by Iskon even they have shown pics of 10 avataars of Lord Vishnu and the 9th pic is of Gautam Buddha.

  2. This is something like the Muslim approach to Jesus, but in reverse.  As Muslims reimage Jesus as merely a "prophet" for the sake of Mohammed's prophetic role, so Hindus, in admiring Siddhartha, cast him as am avatar of Vishnu, hoping to bask in reflected glory.  But if, as a man, the Buddha has truly achieved enlightenment, it would be equivalent to moksha, and there would be no reincarnation.

  3. because only in Hinduism is Guatama Buddha viewed as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu

this is not a Buddhist teaching

so any movies on the life of the Buddha would be from a Buddhist perspective

  4. the gauthama buddha and the lord vishnu's avatara of buddha not the same....contact me on bharadwaj02@gmail.com,. i will mail the details to you....

Any way buddhism came from hinduism...hinduism is the super set
