Siddikur Rahman and Angelo Que aiming strong finishes at the Omega European Masters
Bangladesh’s Mohammad Siddikur Rahman, who had the best finish among the Asian players in last year’s Omega European Masters – tied 18th position – is set to improve his track record in the event when he tees off this week at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club,
in Crans Montana.
Siddikur Rahman has been sensational right from the start of the 2012 golf season, as he has not missed a single cut in the last 10 events that he played.
Moreover, he came close to his second Asian Tour victory at the Queen's Cup and the Panasonic Open India.
He now hopes to improve his position by just one spot, as he finished tied second in each of the two abovementioned tournaments.
“I’ve been playing well since the start of the season and I’m hoping that this will be my week,” he said. “Coming back to a place where you’ve achieved so much is always nice and I know that if I continue to stay patient, I’ll be able to improve my result
from last year”.
He is currently the only player from Bangladesh, who recorded a victory on the Asian Tour.
In the meantime, the three-time Asian Tour winner Angelo Que also aims to repeat the magical performance that he gave in the 2009 edition of the tournament. He tied for the seventh position after posting a 12-under par tournament score.
In 2012, the Philippine has not been able to impress his fans so far, as he missed the cut five times in 11 appearances on the tour.
However, he is now confident to leave a good impression, when he tees off on Thursday, August 30, 2012.
“I’m hoping to reproduce that magic again when I finish tied-seventh in 2009. I want to have a fresh start coming into this week and I think I’ve done that so far. I didn’t think of golf for a week and I’m coming here, hoping to start hitting better again,”
said Que.
He also stated that he can make a strong charge on the Asian Tour Order of Merit by recording a good finish at the 30-man field. He currently holds the 49th spot in the standings.
