Siddons shows grief on Mortaza’s injury
Jamie Siddons, the coach for Bangladesh Cricket team has said that the injured fast bowler, Mashrafe Mortaza will be missed in the next year’s ICC World Cup. Mortaza’s injury has put him in doubt for the upcoming World Cup at home.
The Bangladesh quick bowler injured his knee, while playing domestic cricket. He was batting for his local club, Abahani, in a Dhaka Premier Division league match and, in the process, he damaged his right knee. The MRI scan showed an integral tear of reconstructed
anterior cruciate ligament graft.
The coach knows his importance as a player. Mashrafe has been the premier fast bowler for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747, scalping up 146 wickets at an impressive average of 30. It is not only his performance with the ball, but also his experience as player that counts the
most. Apart from spearheading the Bangladeshi bowling attack, the right-arm fast bowler plays a guiding role to help the rookies in the team.
In an interview with a local newspaper, Siddons said, "A fit and firing Mash was obviously our first preference for the World Cup and this is a huge disappointment for Mash and the team as well."
In the recent times, Mashrafe’s appearance in cricket has been cramped by various injuries. In the home series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, Mortaza did not play complete matches and as a result, he was replaced by his deputy Shakib ul Hassan who is now been appointed
as the full time skipper of the Bangladeshi’s. However, the home side stunned the visitors, sweeping them by a significant margin of 4-0.
Moreover, the medium pacer returned for the next home assignment against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045, appearing in the first two One-day internationals, although he did not feel well. As a result, he said that he needs a bit of match practice to gain his rhythm and pace back.
On the other hand, the Bangladesh coach is confident enough of his current bowling resources. He says that even without their top bowler, the rest of the bowling attack looks fine. In addition, the young crop of bowlers has all the potential in the world
to rattle any batting line-up.
The coach mentioned, "The inclusion of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rubel-Hossain-c2378 or Nazmul Hossain would change the dynamics of the opening attack but I believe that though it would be different it would not be weakened significantly.”
He added, “The loss of Mash will be seen in his leadership and experience. We cannot cover this aspect of his loss."
Certainly, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mashrafe-Mortaza-c1917 will be missed, during the cricket’s marquee tournament. On the whole, a firing Mortaza can add value to the Bangladesh’s bowling attack.
