Best Odds Guaranteed At Williamhill.com Doncaster Mile Stakes will take place today at Doncaster, 1st April, 2012.
The £19,536 race will be run over a 1 mile on a good surface which the eight runners will cover.
Side Glance will race as a favourite today with odds of 1 to 2. Trained by Andrew Balding for owners Pearl Bloodstock Ltd, the five-year-old gelding is expected to deliver a terrific race today.
This will be the seasonal debut for the son of Passing Glance, out of mare Averami. Last season, some of his performances were brilliant whereas others completely missed the mark.
He raced as a favourite with odds of 2 to 1 in the Totepool Sovereign Stakes and came out on top at Salisbury on 11th August, 2011.
Under jockey, Jimmy Fortune, he had an early lead and tracked the leaders. He was challenged with two furlongs remaining, but picked up well and narrowly defeated the runner-up, Dance And Dance, by a neck.
Side Glance finished fourth in the Grade 1 Ricoh Woodbine Mile Stakes at Woodbine on 18th September, 2011. He was paired with Fortune again and missed the finish in third place by 1 length to Right One.
He finished seventh in the last race of the season, the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Sponsored By Qipco (British Champions Mile) at Ascot on 15th October, 2011. Today, he will be saddled by Jimmy Fortune again, who is determined to take him to the
victory today.
Questioning, trained by John Gosden for owner H.R.H Princess Haya Of Jordan, will race with odds of 4 to 1 today.
The son of Elusive Quality, out of Am I pleased his connections with his performances last year. The four-year-old colt finished as a runner-up in the Betfred “Goals Galore” Superior Mile at Haydock on 3rd September, 2011. He was defeated by race
favourite King Torus by a neck.
He landed another placed position in the Darley Stakes at Newmarket on 8th October, 2011. Riding under William Buick, he started steadily but lost pace. He missed the victory by 2 ½ lengths to winner Bubble Chic.
Side Glance is likely to steal the show today leaving the rest of the competition behind. Questioning may finish in second place.
