My volleyball coach is always telling me to side out. I asked her what that meant, and she just laughed at me and walked away! Does anyone on here know what it means??

  1. its when the other team is in control of the volleyball (they served it) and you want the ball back so you say SIDEOUT!! in a way your saying cmon mess it up

  2. a side out is when the other team serves the ball out of bounds.  your coach isnt trying to get YOU to do something she just wants the other team to lose the ball

  3. The volleyball scoring system used to be a lot like a game of badminton-- you could only score when you were serving. Therefore, you would say SIDEOUT when you didn't have the serve to get the serve back and win some points. This was discontinued in favor of the "rally" scoring system, in which you gain points regardless of whether or not you have the serve.

  4. it means like come on get back in the game.!!!

    or like..

come on a couple more points lets finish this game.!!

  5. yeah, a side out is where you win the serve back wen the other team is serving.

    i think so anyway :)

  6. Hi. Your coach is probably saying this when the other team is serving and it just means that she wants your team to score so you can serve.  Hope this helps :)

  7. A side-out is when the other team serves or returns it and its out. Thats what my coach told me...hope it helps!

  8. LOL ok here's what a side out really is.

It's when one person is serving the ball and it goes over the net but it's out..like, on the side...

So I guess it's not such a good thing when she wants you to side out.
