Question:

Side effect of becoming vegetarian?

I make bowel movements 2 times as much. I used to go only once a day, maybe twice when I eat something disagreeable but now I go about 3 or even 4 times a day! I guess with all the fiber intake it makes sense but is there any way to slow it down? How many times do you go? This is not a trolling question, please don't report it.. thanks!

  1. I am vegetarian with most eaten vegan anyway.I go to the bathroom not twice a day, like You,but about 5 times a day,and the consistancy of the stuff leaving is pretty liquid, but what does this really matter? It all is pretty normal on vegan diet, trust me,I do it for like 2 years by now.How can this "some" stuff overcome the amazing benefits for Your health, like practical abscence of heart disease forever, like tranquility, like absence of most other PRINCIPAL diseases which can keep one in hospitals or kill him prematurely etc?Think positive, gains are too big to calculate the amount of stuff that leaves Your body in the bathroom.Read things like in the site below to keep up with this "faith":

  2. u lose some needed protein & vitamins like b-12...also amino acids needed for building your body

  3. Your body is getting rid of all that plugged up dead animal corpse material that's been stuck in your intestinal tract. You are detoxifying. You'll be fine.

  4. Your body may just be purging itself of all the backed up stuff in it from your previous diet which lacked enough fiber. Give it a week or two and if you're still going more than three times a day consider eating less fiber. It's really healthy to go a few times a day though so it's nothing dangerous.

  5. Vitamins can affect some people with excess retention of fluids.

  6. Twice as often is normal, but 3 or 4 times a day is a bit much. Your system may still be adjusting to your diet change. Like others have said, you may want to include more starch with your fiber.

  7. Your body's getting used to the added fiber. Give it a week or two and it will most likely regulate itself. Try taking in more starches and carbs, that may slow down the frequency of your bowels.

  8. I've been on a veg diet for about a week now and I've noticed the same thing.  So maybe it is because of the above people mentioned.
