  1. OH MY GOODNESS! I had a 5 week old kitten (abandoned by mother, followed us home) and we took her to get her rabies shots. Apparently, they should be 8 weeks old by the time they get their rabies shots! After the rabies shot, my kitten was shaking, drooling, and not eating so much, and just not acting like she was supposed to. If she is having any of those symptoms, take her to another vet (not the one who gave her the rabies shot) right away! 4 hours later, my kitten passed away. Needless to say, we changed vets!

  2. All the vaccinations can make kitties sluggish and sore at the injection site.

Is kitten eating, drinking and using the litter box?  When did she have the shot?

If she had her shot today, she may want to sleep the evening away.  She may not be real interested in her food.  She may run a slight fever and this will be normal.  A kitten's normal temperature is higher than ours at 100-102.5 F.  She will feel warm to your touch, but if she feels extremely, contact her vet immediately.

If she is not acting normal by the second day after her rabies shot, contact her vet and let him/her know.

Other serious complications will be any swelling around the face, difficulty breathing, lethargy, seizures, etc.  When I volunteered at my vet, I did see vaccination reactions, but never to the rabies.

Hope she is feeling better soon.

    Purrs to you and kitten.
