Question:

Side effects of Diphenhydramine?

I recently took a 50 mg dose of Benadryl to help with my allergies, which are usually aggravated before I go to sleep. I felt extremely tired afterwards, went out like a light, but am still feeling side effects today, such as dizziness, dry mouth, headache, and confusion. I've been drinking plenty of fluids, but I still don't feel well. Should I be concerned or can the side effects sometimes last a while?

  1. Diphenhydramine is the stuff they put in Tylenol PM and other OTC sleeping aids. I take 150mg per night to sleep, and generally I have dry mouth and tiredness. I haven't experienced the dizziness, headache, confusion, etc. If I quit taking the stuff for one day or so, the tiredness and dry mouth go away.  I think you should probably Google "side effects of..." if you haven't already.  Or go onto WebMd or something like that. Good Luck.
