  1. botanical name for the herb is Bacopa monnieri, side effects of a drug depend on the purpose u r using that drug for, might sound tricky to u, let me give u an example, some anti allergic drugs induce sleep, when u use that drug for allergy. but the drug can be used to induce sleep in a patient of sleeplessness, then inducing sleep becomes its main effect, rather than side effect.

so side effects of brahmi depend upon the use for which u are going to use the herb, its effects are, anti anxiety, sedative, diuretic, nervine tonic (used in insanity, epilepsy, and for improving mental function), it is anti spasmodic (used in bronchitis asthma and diarrhoea), herb is generally safe if taken in proper doses but an extract, brhamine of this herb has been reported to be highly toxic causing paralysis like symptoms. it has got no role in diabetes.

  2. Ayurvedic herbs are generally harmless and it has no side effects. But any medicine should be taken only as per the prescription of the Doctor and the quantity should be limited dose for each time. It is better you take the advice from an ayurvedic doctor.
