Question:

Side effects to Paxil in 48 hours?

I started taking Paxil at a low (10mg) dose for anziety and sleeplessness. On Friday night, I slept decently but woke up still tired and continued feeling almost asleep all day long. It is now Sunday and I still feel like I am half-asleep/slightly drunk. I have taken Paxil before, and don't remember any of this happening then. I am wondering if this is all due to Paxil or is could it be because I haven't been sleeping well for months? I also stopped using caffeine at the same time. So my bottom line question is, is this going to go away? I can't work, drive etc like this...

  1. I could be wrong, but I doubt if that feeling has anything to do with the Paxil. It think it has more to do with your sleep problem, and you haven't been taking the Paxil long enough for it to make much of a difference.

I have taken Paxil for more than ten years and it never made me feel like that.

I don't think you are getting the full effect of the drug in only 48 hours; it should take at least a week or two.

Try to get a good night's sleep and if you still feel the same way the next day call your doctor if you want to.
