Side necked turtles /safe water neutralisers and treatments?

I buy bottled still spring water for my sidenecked turtles as I was told a few years ago by the pet shop it was all I could use as anything else could poison them. I have just bought a bigger aquarium for them and wondered if anyone could give me advise about using tap water with treatments. Buying the bottled water for the new aquarium is still an option but didn't want to do this un-necessarily. Tetra Aquasafe and Jurassisafe -- are these safe for turtles?

I spoke to someone who said just use tap water that has been left for 48 hours to get rid of the chlorine.

As the turtles have always been in bottle spring water, is using the tap water going to effect them?

Sorry for the long winded question -- I just can find info that answers for definate and don't want to find out by using tap water and finding my turtles poisoned! Thanks a lot.

  1. Tap water is fine.  Just use a dechlorinator that they make for fish tanks.  That is what I do.  See here for more info:
