Sidekick II without Sidekick data plan?

I just bought a Sidekick II (2) off of ebay. I already have T-Mobile as my carrier and was just planning to put my sim card in the Sidekick, but I heard that only Texting and Calling will work. It's not a big deal, since that's all that I really use, but would I have to sign up for a new plan to get the other features?

if u just want to use the sidekick for calls and texting jus add a text messaging plan but to be able to use aim,download ringtones and use the internet , u hav to add the sidekick unlimited plan which is $20 a month

you wouldn't have to change anything or sign up

the only thing is adding sidekick unlimited for 19.99

txt, pix, aim, web browsing as you know unlimited ...

but if you just text and call no big deal getting the other features
