Question:

Sideout? Libero?

This is my second season playing

and last year my coach was really inexperienced.

She never taught us the positons.

Or much of anything.

Tomorrow is the second day of tryouts.

My new coach told me I'm the best

out of all the girls trying out this year.

Now for my question:

what is a libero

and what's a sideout?

and what's a 6-2 rotation?

  1. well i dont no what libero means or that other rotation thing is but sideout means to catch up like if the other team is beating you and you need to score some pionts quick

  2. i can give you a site if you want

    good luck!!!

  3. The Libero is a defensive specialist that wears a different colored jersey from the rest of the team.  They can replace any back row player.  They can serve this year in junior high and high school rules, but still not in club.  They can never play in the front row.

A sideout is where the team that is serving loses the rally and the other team gets the point and gets to serve.  That is the chant the team that is not serving uses often.

A 6-2 is where the team uses 6 hitters and 2 setters.  The setter sets when they are in the back row.  The player opposite the setter will hit when they are in the front row.  This offense is used when the team has 2 nearly equal setters and wants to maximize the number of hitters.

This is just the highlights of each.  If you want more information, please feel free to email me.

  4. ^^^ that explains it really good lol.

also when they go in, it doesnt count on the score sheet as a subsitution because of the  "libero tracking sheet" so a libero can go in and out as much as possible. shes not only going to get u a prefect pass and set up, but shes like a get out of jail free card if a coach is out of subsitutions.

A side out is simple. its a fancy word for "served out of bounds". you want the other team to give you a "side out" because that means they serve it out. your point and ball!! lol.

  5. Gordon answerd it perfectly.

I came to answer and he coverd it all.

My coach last year was very inexpierenced too.

This year, I learned everything. What a libero was, the 6-2 rotation..I did know what a side out was though.

Don't worry, you'll catch on fast.

    I did.
