Sidhu questioned injured Sehwag’s recovery – Cricket News Update
Former Indian cricketer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Navjot-Singh-Sidhu-c78928, has inquired the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about Virender Sehwag’s fitness status after the star opening batsman confirmed his appearance in the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting on April
4, 2012.
Sehwag, who is all set to take the field for the up-coming Twenty20 tournament for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s Asia Cup squad earlier this month on grounds of fitness.
The whole saga has left the former Indian batsman baffled, who questioned the BCCI over handling their senior players. He argued that players are not totally to be blamed for playing in such lucrative leagues despite injury concerns because the amount of
money involved makes it difficult for many international stars to opt out of such events.
He added that the sponsors therefore put pressure on the board to ensure that the best players remain available for the IPL.
“It's the Board of Control for Cricket in India who has sold it to the sponsors, who are paying billions and billions for Sehwag, for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453. So don't blame the cricketer alone," said Sidhu.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/HA-Varaiya-c1520, the right handed opener, had under-performed during the tour Down Under and was speculated to be dropped from the team due to his poor performances, despite BCCI claiming that they have rested their premier opener on accounts of his shoulder complaint.
The cricketer turned politician then put the blame on both parties for skipping national interests over personal endeavours and demanded justification from the BCCI to clear the ambiguity of Sehwag’s injury.
“It's a mutual symbiosis...a symbiosis where both parties benefit. The Board benefits because they get the mileage, they get the money and the cricketer benefits because...how many cricketers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/YK-Pathan-c2815 will earn 10 crores in one and a half
months,” Sidhu said.
For now, Sehwag is all set to leaf the Delhi Daredevils in the upcoming mega event and will be keenly eyeing a return to form, which will further help him claim his position in the team.
