Sidney Crosby Practices but sees No Return in Near Future -NHL Update
Pittsburgh Penguins’ injury riddled captain, Sidney Crosby, was back on the ice Monday, February 6, 2012, but not to anticipations as the young superstar player who has been tormented by major concussions and recently a newly revealed neck injury, he was
only taking part in practice.
Playing with a number of players from the Penguins team, Crosby termed his practice session as being better than before in terms of his health but unfortunately, no change in his status regarding a possible date for his return to the spotlight.
The last time Sidney played a game in the National Hockey League (NHL) was back in December 5, 2011, after which the player has not been seen in action in any major league game.
"It was good to be out there," Crosby said. "I wasn't going to skate by myself if I didn't have to."This week's been pretty good. I feel like I'm getting there. I don't know the timeframe. I wish I did."
Crosby also stated that he would not be participating regularly with the team in their practice sessions but will try do appear in most in accordance with the advice of the medical staff.
"You play hockey because you love being part of the team and being around that type of atmosphere. When you're injured it's not like that. You're out there with one or two guys and you're on your own. It's nice to be with the group," Crosby added.
The player and the Pittsburgh Penguins team certainly are optimistic about his latest neck injury diagnosis instead of being a fully fledged concussion, since it is in a way more treatable than the other.
Pittsburgh Penguins head coach, Dan Bylsma also added that despite being happy to see his star player out on the ice, he would not be able to participate with the team in their professional matchups.
The 24-year-old has managed to play in eight games this 2011-2012 NHL regular season and has a point total of 12 (2 goals, 10 assists) with a plus-minus rating of seven.
With Crosby out, Penguins certainly continue to struggle on a daily basis while hoping the player will be able to make a return as the playoffs close in.
