Sidney Crosby expected to set the stage with Pittsburgh Penguins in Madison Square Garden–NHL Update
In one of the most anticipated events, Sidney Crosby, the Pittsburgh Penguins superstar captain is expected to set the stage in Madison Square Garden against New York Rangers on Thursday, March 15, 2012.
On a nine-game winning streak, Pittsburgh is by far the hottest team in the National Hockey League (NHL) at the moment and could get even hotter with Crosby back on the line-up to lead Penguins to even further success.
Penguins are currently at number four in the Eastern Conference and seeing the way they have been playing recently, seeing them atop their league at the end of the 2011-2012 NHL regular season definitely will not be a surprise.
Crosby played his last matchup against defending Stanley Cup champions, the Boston Bruins on December 5th, and will be making his first ever return on the major league ice ever since.
"I think it's always nice just coming back, period," said Crosby. "But to be in a big game like this, it's nice. Like I said before, the more you get into games the quicker you're going to adjust and adapt. I'm going to get into it pretty quickly here with
the intensity and emotions of the games coming up. That's really the best thing, I think. I'm just happy to be in big games like this."
It is still not evident that his concussion like symptoms have fully ended but according to the player and the team’s medical staff, he is clear for contact and will eventually be fully fit.
Many are ready to see Pittsburgh reach new heights and set new standards with a force like Sidney Crosby back on Penguins line-up but according to the All-Star captain, he is just ready to get back at it and do his job.
"I don't think it changes anything when you're coming back. I think that you still have to do your job," Crosby added.
Crosby has played only eight games this season, the fewest in his career so far, and has a 12 point record (2 goals, 10 assists), but could be changing all that if his stay with Pittsburgh lasts till their final playoff game.
