Evian TG FC have been struggling this season and are currently just one place above the relegation zone with 19 points on the table at the end of Week 18. And things aren’t looking good for the French outfit as they prepare to take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valenciennes-FC-c40865 in
their last match of the year.
Recent results have attracted a huge amount of criticism and Evian are under massive pressure to deliver. However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sidney-Govou-c33474, who moved to Parc des Sports in the summer of 2011, has asked the club supporters to be more patient and is of the view that
Evian need more time to get back to winning note.
While talking to reporters, the 33-year-old stated that players receive a lot of criticism when things go wrong but the supporters need to be responsible as well.
"People like to say that players are ungrateful, but you can say the same for the supporters here.”
Evian TG FC are in their second season in the French top flight and fans should be happy about the fact that the best clubs in the country are coming here to play against Pascal Dupraz’s side.
“They've forgotten where this club has come from. They should be happy to see big clubs coming here," the ex-Olympique Lyonnais player told BeIn Sport.
Govou added that the supporters want their team to perform well in every game, which in not possible and has urged them to give Les Croix de Savoie more time.
"Of course they want us to do well quickly. We'd also like to be fighting in the top half, but you can't have everything. The fans are going to have to be patient; this is only our second season in Ligue 1."
The former Lyon player said that Evian’s main objective is to stay in the Ligue 1 for as long as possible and is confident about his side’s chances this season.
“We have to stay in the top flight for as long as possible so the club can build solid foundations," said Govou. "
