Sidney Lowe joins Utah Jazz as an assistant coach - NBA Update
Former head coach of North Carolina State University, Sydney Lowe has been hired as an assistant coach by Utah Jazz. His arrival in the Jazz’s franchise was confirmed on Tuesday and he will be working with current head coach and
his former teammate, Tyrone Corbin. Both were NBA teammates in 1989-1990 during Minnesota Timberwolves’ inaugural season.
Sydney Lowe was extremely happy over his new job and especially on joining his former NBA teammate.
He spoke in the media and said, “I always respected him (Corbin) since we played together — class guy, great work ethic, I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to again get with a great organization and also work with
an old friend.”
Jazz’s head coach Corbin also acknowledged Lowe appointment as his assistant. He spoke to the media and said, “He's going to come in and give you a hard day's work every day; He's going to help us develop with his experience on
the floor, with his experience on the sideline as a coach the last 18 years.”
Lowe, who is making a coaching comeback in the NBA, has certainly a vast coaching experience and enormous leadership skills. Before joining N.C. State University, he has coached different teams in the NBA for almost 16 years.
He joined the N.C. State University in 2006 as its new head coach. In his very first year, he earned great respect from N.C State University’s management when he became third Wolfpack coach who won record 20 games and defeated
all other North Carolina institutions in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Only two other coaches Everett Case and Press Maravich have achieved this valued award in the N.C State’s history.
During his tenure at the N.C. State, he was not able to help his team to any other extraordinary achievement. His performance as a coach could not impress much later in the seasons. The Wolfpack’s overall (86-78) winning record
in over five years had disappointed Lowe as he eventually resigned in March, 2011.
Before joining N.C. State University, Lowe has coached several NBA sides including, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, Vancouver/ Memphis Grizzlies, and Detroit Pistons.
Prior to a professional coaching career, Sydney Lowe had also a pretty impressive career in NBA as a professional basketball player. He was selected by the Chicago Bulls in 1993 draft and played for several NBA teams including
the Indiana Pacers, Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
