The Bayer Leverkusen attacker has once again been ruled out of action after suffering a muscle tear in the game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 on Saturday.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sidney-Sam-c33476 has been ruled out of action for an indefinite period, having suffered a torn muscle minutes after making a comeback for Bayer Leverkusen against the Swabians.
Both teams locked horns on Saturday, February 04, at the BayArena with the match ending all square at 2-2. Stefan Kiessling and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Harnik-c24374 netted for the visitors.
The winger came on to the pitch as a substitute in the 72nd minute in place of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lars-Bender-c21663, but lasted for just 12 minutes. Leverkusen manager, Robin Dutt, expressed his disappointment on the midfielder’s injury along
with his side’s inability to secure all the three points in front of the home fans.
Dutt stated that his side was playing exceptionally well, and had the game in control before conceding a totally unnecessary equaliser right before the end of play. The boss opined that his team were on top throughout the course
of the match and that it was heartbreaking to concede in the closing stages of the encounter.
While talking during the post-match press conference, Dutt further added:
"It does not look like it will be a short-term thing. It was totally unnecessary to concede just before the end. We had managed to keep our organisation despite going down to ten men and we hardly let them have any chances, which
makes this goal even more bitter."
On the other hand, Stuttgart sporting director, Fredi Bobic, expressed his delight on his team’s late comeback which ended the team’s four-match losing streak. He insisted that the Swabians showed good character and determination
away from home, and need to build on to this performance in order to get their campaign back on the right track.
"It was a good team performance. We more than deserved this point. It is also good that we had a bit of luck back on our side. This is the way the team has got to go. They were courageous today and, overall, we can build on this
performance," Bobic concluded.
As a result of Saturday’s draw, Leverkusen stay on the sixth spot with 31 points from 20 games, while Stuttgart are 11th on the standings with 23 points. Werkself will next be in action against Borussia Dortmund whereas
Stuttgart will host http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 on Saturday, February 11.
