Sidney or Melbourne and Why?

there are sooo many reasons why MELBOURNE is better

better shopping

we got the sporting events - afl, aus open, melb cup, oh and this year we're hosting the homeless world cup, which is an awesome, massive event where homeless people from around the world including those from slums come together to represent their country and spread awareness about homelessness. Please come, it's at fed square in i think november, heaps of great spirit. :) i'll be there every day.

we win all the sports - geelong(victorian) in the afl, melbourne victory in the soccer

less crime

better atmopshere - it's not all about workworkwork

everything is overpriced

melbourne has a funkier atmosphere

culture

better and cheaper food

melbourne has better drivers

melbourne has the tallest residential building in the southern hemisphere, eureka and the tallest comercial building in australia, rialto

we hosted the olympic games first

we've got better schools

etc

my friend wrote a really good speech about it, funnily the school hired a women from sydney to judge the speeches

and didnt melbourne get voted the world's most livable city

and our car number plates say - the place to be

We dont have a sidney, its Sydney

Youwill get conflicting answers because there is a huge competition on each city.

I have lived in both and much prefer Melbourne.  It is more cosmopolitan and more like Europe, where is Sydney is like the USA.  I prefer Europe over the US anyday

Sydney because it's such a beautiful city! There's a buzz you get in Sydney that you won't get anywhere else in the country!

Melbourne because it's so cosmopolitan, clean, very classy, lots of people from Europe prefer Melbourne, the weather is a little cooler though.. but it's also very artsy I guess you could say.

I've lived in both cities... my favourite would have to be Sydney, but they both are probably the best two cities in Oz in my opinion.

This questions probably comes down to what lifestyle one would want to get out of the city they lived in.

Depending on where you are in life at the moment; if you like beaches, nightclubs, a buzzing city, Sydney, if you like cafes, arts, a drive for a wine on a Sunday to a vineyard, something a little different, Melbourne.

Well they are both great...But i would think Sydney is better because i live there.

Melbourne is a more historical place, where Sydney you can have lots of fun like:

Sydney Jet boat (awesome fun!!! look it up)

Opera house

Climb harbour bridge

Easter show (only near easter)

Sports

Oztrek (centre point tower)

Bondi Beach

etc etc...

But theres also lots of fun in melbourne.
