Reports from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 had suggested that Siem de Jong had penned down a contract extension with Ajax Amsterdam that will keep him at Amsterdam Arena until the summer of 2015. However, the 22-year-old’s agent, Louis Laros, has denied all the speculations
and revealed that his client is yet to reach an agreement with the Amsterdammers.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is a product of Ajax’s famous youth academy and started his professional career at Amsterdam Arena in 2007/08 season. His good performances in the attacking third this season has made him a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitalô-c40903 player in De Joden’s
squad and has attracted interest from a host of top European clubs. He scored 12 goals in 32 appearances this season for Ajax.
With many clubs taking keen interest in taking his signature in the ongoing summer transfer window, the Amsterdammers management were tempted to offer him a contract extension. However, Laros has denied earlier reports and said that his client is yet to
sign the contract extension.
“That news was premature. It is not around. Over a number of things, we have already agreed. The salary is already around for example, but for some things, we need to fill in the grey areas. However, the fact is that we are just going to come out.” Laros
said.
“It just takes longer because there are some peripheral issues plays at Ajax. We obviously had to deal with the retirement of General Director Rik van den Boog, and the managers are on vacation. We must wait here”, he concluded.
The 22-year-old earlier hinted towards a possible departure from Amsterdam Arena as he was not happy with his current contract with the club that runs until the summer of 2013. Furthermore, Borussia Dortmund were also taking keen interest in taking his signature
in the summer transfer market.
Nonetheless, the Amsterdammers management is looking to hold on to its prized asset and would offer the promising youngster an improved contract extension. For now, it seems unlikely that the 22-year-old would be pursuing his career elsewhere in the upcoming
season.
