Siena will host Napoli in the first of the two-legged semi-finals at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Thursday, February 9.
Robur manager, Giuseppe Sannino, has expressed his dissatisfaction at the time scheduled for the kick-off amid poor weather conditions in the country. The game is expected to commence at 8:45 AM local time, and Sannino has urged
the authorities to move the kick-off ahead of the planned time.
The weather authorities have stated that the temperatures will be on the lower side and there is a potential chance of heavy snowfall.
The Italian football authority has agreed to start the game ahead of time, and it is believed that it will be a 3 PM kick-off. Sannino is pleased with this proposition of the authorities, and believes that it will be good for the
safety of the players.
While talking to Radio Kiss Kiss, Sannino said,
“To bring it forward would be a good thing for the safety of the players, who are the main protagonists,”
Reflecting on the Napoli side and their recent endeavours in the UEFA Champions League, the Italian believes that playing matches in this weather could be hazardous for both teams. He believes that there is a lot at stake, and
injuries to any player would be a huge price to pay towards the end of the season.
“I believe that Napoli, who are aiming for a run in the Champions League as well, will also want to protect their players from possible injury on the ice. Playing at 6pm? For my part, after speaking with the director and players,
I would say that is important to bring it forward.” added the experienced manager.
Siena are braced for a relegation battle in the Serie A, as they are only three points above the drop zone. On the other hand, the Partenopei side is looking to finish among the top three, and also have UEFA Champions League commitments.
