  1. In my current financial situation...I can't. My suggestion...learn the art of hypermiling (but DON'T do anything dangerous or illegal like drafting semi trucks). You'll get in the very high 30's to the low 40s. I have a Corolla and I hypermiled once just out of curiosity....got 40mpg. Mine is an '06 model with an automatic transmission. All you have to do is...

    1) Leave the AC off most of the time with windows closed. If the window is open you are creating lots of air drag which lowers the mpg more than a closed window with a running AC.

    2) No jack rabbit starts / sudden stops

    3) No speeds in excess of 55mph

    4) Use the brakes as little as possible ("feather" the gas pedal to make green lights, next in line at a stop sign, etc).

  2. It'll cost me about $63.55 to fill up my car.

I'll be driving much less.  I'll only go to closer restaurants or closer bank branches.  I'll rarely leave the county.

  3. Ride your bike!!

  4. Limit your driving, just like I do. Costs me over $80.00 to fill both cars and that does not include the lawnmowers. Guess I will just let the grass grow and combine trips to limit consummation.

  5. I personally am buying a Honda 250 Nighthawk that gets 50 miles per gallon, and driving the SUV on the weekends only.

  6. we can't.our government taxes us,then taxes us at the pump.

  7. Like the man says £5 a gallon, now you know how we feel.

  8. wanna carpool?

i drive a mistubishi galant gtz that is a v6- it cost me $43 to fill up this morning, and i will have to fill up again by friday afternoon or saturday. boo.

lets all start a revolution and rollerblade everywhere...that would be fun right?

  9. Carpooling, or mass transit are your best bets if your job is far from home. Walking pr biking are options, too.

  10. It costs me now over $70 to fill up my car

I personally dont drive as many places as I use to

I dont take as many spontaneous trips

  11. it cost me 90 dollars now to fill up my tank on my montana and 60 to fill my wrangler and over 100 to fill my husbands dodge ram 1500 so when gas prices hit 4 a galloon i think ill be cutting out alot of extra running and quite possibly have to get rid of either the jeep or the ram.

  12. Cut back on as many extras as possible, and try to a "share a ride" or carpooling if that's an option.  Getting a second job is something I'm considering.

  13. Start walking more..haha

  14. I drive 66 miles round trip to work everyday. It's going to hurt.

  15. Ya i have a really little Cavalier and it gets good gas milage but it still takes almost $50 to fill it up and i work two jobs and go to school which everything if spread out so i drive so much i think i fill up my tank about every 4-5 days!!!!!! last month i spent almost $300 in just gas!!! im dieing i cant afford anything i have to save all my money to buy gas! im going to definetly start walking more if i can and im gunna stop driving to little places that i dont really need to drive to.
