  4. if you already have the whole Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Louvre etc... down then a couple places I would suggest is:

    - walk the Champs-Élysées - from the place de la concorde to the arc de triomphe. it is a lovely walk.

    - Musee d'orsay - one of my favorites, very accessible for people who are not really familiar with art as well. You will recognize a number of peices there.

    - Pompidou - such a cool building. Modern art, controversial architecture, so neat. Locaed in the Marais district.

    - Walk...walk...walk... as much as you can, along the Seine, thru Monmartre, etc.. Paris is a lovely city to just wander around.

    - One interesting place to see is the Catecombs that are under the city. It is a network of tunnels lines with boes, laid out in really cool patterns. A little macabe but interesting nonetheless. On my like 5th visit there I checked it out on a whim and loved it.

    - take the RER/Metro to Versailles. It is a great way to spend pretty much the better part of a day and you can wander around the gardens and the palace. It is worth seeing. The village of Versailles is pretty non-descript though.

    - the Musée d'Art moderne is often overlooked but is nice and affords some really pretty views of the tower in context of the city.

    - The fragonard museum is about perfume making. I have never been to this one but did do a really interesting factory tour in Grasse years back and it was really facinating - and I am not really all that into Perfume.

Check out too which days are free or reduced entrance fees. Often it is worth getting the Museum Pass - if you think you are going to really see that much. Try to split up the city into sections - see each section that day to maximize yoru time as well as not constantly spending money on metro fare. There are tons of supercheap places to eat there or just grab a sandwich and have a picnic in the park!

Have a blast. Paris is an amazing city -- even on a budget :)

  5. Go to some of the gardens, many of them offer free entry.  All of the following are free.  The Palais Royal (across rue Rivoli from the Louvre) often contains interesting metal sculptures.  The Jardin de Luxembourg and surrounding area are very interesting.  Walk through the Tuileries, and if the weather is warm enough, sit by the pond for a while.  Stroll around the Jardin des Plantes.

I think you have to pay to get into Ste. Chappelle, but it's worth whatever they charge.  The floor to ceiling stained glass panels are breathtaking.  Admission to Notre Dame and Sacre Coeur is free.

Walking around neighborhoods is very interesting and also free.  As tourists, sometimes we get so caught up in "seeing the sites" that we miss stuff that is right in front of us.  I know I'm guilty!

  6. Jim Morrison's grave

  7. I have been there a few times and recommend you start at the Eiffel tower and just wonder round you will find the area is magical and every thing looks like a work of art, there are some amazing buildings that are worth looking at and are all in walking distance from the tower, Notradam is very nice and the arch DE truant , honestly you dont have to walk far for the very finest in architecture
