Sigma Lens is locking up

Question

I have a Sigma 17-70 and was using it with a Canon Digital Rebel XTi. I was using it to shoot and it was working fine, and all of a sudden it completely locked up. I have no idea what happened. It won't zoom completely in or out, it's stuck somewhere in the middle. The lens lock is not on.
