Doing a history assessment that involves me assessing the significance of the Whitlam Dismissal on Australian politics, and Australia in general in the post-war period.

I don't need any major help, just some pointers on things that were significant about his dismissal in 1975.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

  1. The dismissal did a few things.  One of them was to highlight the Constitutional significance of the Governor General.  No one thought those powers would be used, even if they thought they existed.

The dismissal also changed the nature of politics.  Party politics became more aggressive and less friendly than before the dismissal.
