Significance of Storytelling in Mexico?? HELP?!?!?

I am doing a project and I need to know the significance of storytelling in Mexico and when stories started to form and when literature started to form?

In mexico we (Where I live there is no TV,using mi cousins commputer)We tell old family story's that include some myans and ghost stories or family tradition.We in the country we usually take care of lifestock and work and go to school.

Nothing like in the USA.
