Significance of the number 7 at manchester united?

i am a huge united fan and planning on writing ma thesis on manchester uniteds "number 7" but have not a wide history on it. hopefully someone can give me the history/ the legend behind the number 7 and why it is so significant

You are doing a thesis on that ???!! LOL!

Prior to George Best, it had no significance at all, and anyway shirt numbers were only introduced  just before the second world war. Since then, some of United's best players ( Ronaldo, Becks, Robson and especially the immortal Cantona) have worn it. But its really no big deal, its just a number and has no special attachment or reverance to it. Plenty of great United players have worn different numbers.

And if you can write an entire thesis on that, good luck to you!

the number 7 shirt was worn by some of the greatest in united's history like george best bryan robson david beckham and Eric Cantona, which why it was given to cristiano ronaldo as ferguson wanted him to live up to the his potential and his own expectations....
