Tottenham Hotspur’s summer signing Gylfi Sigurdsson insists that they will score more goals once the team ‘clicks’.
The Icelandic international joined the club after a successful winter loan move at Swansea City. The former Reading player once again found himself in the Premier League after German outfit Hoffenheim loaned him out to the Swans.
The attacking midfielder impressed during his loan spell at Swansea, scoring a total of 7 goals in just 18 appearances. The player became known for his long range passing, free-kick technique and attacking flair.
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas had identified Sigurdsson as a primary transfer target and signed him on the 4th of July this summer. Sigurdsson was followed by the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 to
form a new look Spurs side.
Last season’s on loan striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Emmanuel-Adebayor-c12526 was also signed on a permanent deal from Manchester City.
Despite letting go of start players http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 and Rafael Van Der Vaart, the club acquired a number of high profile international players, and has added considerably to its ranks
Tottenham experienced a slow and dismal start to their campaign, but slowly managed to get results. The club is now on an undefeated run of 6 games in all competitions. After failing to win any of his first three games, the Portuguese manager led the club
to three consecutive wins in the league, including the historic 2-3 victory at Old Trafford against former English champions Manchester United.
Tottenham’s last game was played out against Panathinaikos in the Europa League, where the team threw away a 1-0 lead and ended up drawing the game 1-1.
Despite dominating, Tottenham were unable to score more goals and see the game off. Sigurdsson however believes that the goals will come once the team gets more playing time together.
“Once we click we will be clinical,” said Sigurdsson. “The signs are all there in our build-up play and the next step, consistent finishing, will be key.”
“There have been a lot of changes to the squad in a short period but I look around me and see such quality that the goals we deserve and seek cannot be far away. How can they be?”
“As the season progresses and we get more used to one another, the goals have to come and I am determined to play my part in that.”
