Swansea City are likely to face a stiff task of holding on to the on-loan midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, as his agreed six month stint with the club is set to expire in the summer.

He made his Premier League debut against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 at the Liberty Stadium, and guided his side to a 3-2 win over the Gunners. He was named the Premier League Player of the Month for March, as he played a huge part in the club’s three wins in four matches during
the month.
However, the Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins, is wary of the fact that they will face a battling task of tying the Icelandic footballer to a permanent contract. Even though the player himself has expressed the desire to play under Brendan Rodgers, it is unlikely
that the German club will sell him in the summer.

“Our aim is to keep our best players. We've always tried to do that over the years and it will be no different with Gylfi.”
Nevertheless, Jenkins remained optimistic that the midfielder’s willingness to stay with the Welsh club, might force Hoffenheim into selling him. If a deal for his transfer goes ahead between the two clubs, the Icelander is likely to smash the Swansea record
transfer fee of 3.5 million pounds, which they paid for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Graham last summer.
Hoffenheim’s new manager, Markus Babbel is also believed to be a big admirer of Sigurdsson and has hinted that he expected him to make a return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904, after completing his term with the Swans.
Sigurdsson himself, wants to continue playing in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, but was aware that he has got 2 more years left on his contract with Hoffenheim.
“I love English football so I would love to stay. This is a fantastic team and it is fantastic to play football in this league. Hopefully I can stay in the Premier League.” He said.
“It has been a fantastic time here since I signed in January. It has been very easy for me to come in and do my job."
The Icelander has represented the German side in 39 matches and scored 10 goals during this period. He only played 7 games for Hoffenheim in the 2011/2012 season, before being sent on-loan to the Liberty stadium, for the remainder of the season.
