Tottenham Hotspur’s first signing of the summer, Icelandic international Gylfi Sigurdsson, is looking forward to a successful first season with the North London club.
The 22-year old midfielder was on loan at Swansea City earlier this year, from German club Hoffenheim. Sigurdsson impressed in his short time with the Swans and caught the eye of all the top Premier League clubs.
Sigurdsson scored 7 goals in 18 appearances for the Swans. He is well known for his free-kicks and long range shots. Former Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers was keen on taking the player with him to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 as he became the new manager of the Merseyside club.
Sigurdsson however declined and opted for a move to White Hart Lane instead.
The midfielder signed for Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month as he became new manager Andre Villas-Boas’s first signing of the summer.
Speaking to Spurs TV, Sigurdsson said:
"The most important thing is to get off to a good start in the league and then get a good momentum that we can take into the Europa League and obviously there's the FA Cup so we want to be playing for silverware in every competition we're in."
Sigurdsson spoke highly of his new manager and was impressed by the training facilities at the club. He is also targeting personal honours and achievements with his new club and is hopeful of winning trophies for them.
“I'd like to play as much as I can and I want to win trophies because the squad is more than good enough," he added.
"[The training ground] is unbelievable. It's one of the best in Europe, if not the world. When we get back from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 and start training there it's going to be fantastic."

Tottenham have already started training as they prepare for the pre-season campaign and look forward to competing on four fronts once the season resumes.
