Both series will see titles remastered in High Definition for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 from Konami.
Konami is the publisher of some of the most iconic series in gaming history with titles such as Silent Hill and Pro Evolution Soccer under its belt. However, in recent years it has seen interest levels in its games drop as EA’s Dead Space and FIFA series
have taken the spotlight away from them.
It used to be Silent Hill and Resident Evil who would go up against each other earlier. Yet with the latter moving into a more action oriented genre, the title for the best survival-horror game was fought between Silent Hill and Dead Space.
It seems that the studio is hoping to introduce a new generation of gamers to the Silent Hill series and hopefully take advantage of any nostalgia that gamers may have as they have announced an HD Collection of the series.
Silent Hill 2 and 3 have been bundled together for the HD Collection. Both games have been given the HD treatment and have been scheduled for release on the 6th of March.
However, there is no word on whether or not the game will be a digital download only, via the PlayStation Store or Xbox LIVE Marketplace, or available in physical form at retailers.
At the same time Konami has also announced that gamers can look forward to a Zone of the Enders HD Collection this autumn.
Martin Schneider, the Digital Entertainment General Manager at Konami, stated, “We are looking forward to bringing the legendary Zone of the Enders series to old and new fans in a high definition form.”
He continued, “We are excited to offer these games on new platforms which will allow gamers o experience the drama and action of the Zone of thee Enders like they have never seen it before.”
The HD pack will include Zone of the Enders as well as the sequel, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner with both titles receiving the HD treatment in order to mesh in better with the current generation of home consoles.
