PlayStation Vita owners will have to wait another five months before they can get their hands on Silent Hill: Book of Memories but they could spend their money on Steam Wallet cards from GameStop instead.
If the recent change in Amazon’s listing for Silent Hill: Book of Memories had one confused, seeing how the release date of the eagerly anticipated title read ‘October’ instead of ‘March, they need not be.
The reason was not a technical fault or a glitch in Amazon’s system, but rather something much worse for Vita owners who were looking forward to the game and that is the fact that the game has been delayed.
The news gets worse for fans who still believe there is a chance that it could still be a mistake, however, the game’s publisher, Konami, has confirmed that the game has been delayed until sometime in October.
Silent Hill: Book of Memories delay will come as a major blow for Sony who was hoping to bring in a number of familiar brands in order to increase the demand for the PlayStation Vita as well as for gamers who wanted survival-horror game on the console.
In completely unrelated news, US retailer is now offering ‘Steam Wallet’ cards, which are the PC equivalent of PSN or Xbox LIVE cards. So far, two different priced cards have been released costing $20 and $50 respectively. The code on the card can then be
entered onto Steam’s online marketplace and the amount will be transferred onto one’s digital wallet.
Steve Nix, GameStop’s General Manager of Digital Distribution, was on hand to comment on how gamers now had more access to Steam content, when he said, "This gives even more options to customers now that they can put money in their Steam Wallet using cash,
gift cards or trade credits through our convenient neighbourhood locations,"
At the same time Valve’s Jason Holtman also commented on the launch of the cards when he stated, "Offering Steam Wallet codes at GameStop extends more options and convenience to gamers around to the world.”
The move follows Gabe Newell’s announcement last year that p****y only prevails where there is a lack of access to a certain commodity and providing access would ultimately lead to a reduction in p****y.
